There is a joke in Spain about how to spot a tourist, they’ll be the only ones in the bar drinking sangria.  Sangria is a drink for fiestas, the best recipes are surprisingly simple. Pick one that best fits your mood.








                                     Classic Spanish Sangria
  • 1 bottle Honoro Vera Monastrell red wine
  • 1 1/2 cups  Silver Rum
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Orange, lemon, and lime cut into wedges
  • In a large pitcher, combine red wine, rum, orange juice and sugar. Stir until completely dissolved. Add fruit and chill. Serve over ice. Recipe serves 6-8. 

                             
                                    White Sangria
  • 1 bottle Abellio Albariño white wine
  • 3/4 cup  Triple Sec
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • Orange, lime and peach cut into wedges
  • Handful of red grapes
  • In a large pitcher, combine white wine, triple sec and sugar. Stir until completely dissolved. Add fruit and chill. Serve over ice. Recipe serves 6-8. 


      

                      


Sparkling Golden Sangria
  • 750mL Bottle Codorníu Cava Clasico semi-seco
  • 1/2 cup orange liquor 
  • 3 cups White Grape Juice
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • Sliced Nectarine and Orange
  • 1 1/2 cups cherries, mandarin oranges, and raspberries
  • 1 cup fresh basil and mint leaves
  • Ice
  • In a large pitcher, combine  orange Liqueur, grape juice, honey and sugar, stirring until honey and sugar dissolve. Stir in fruit, basil and mint leaves, and chill for 1-24 hours. Just before serving, add  Cava to mixture. Serve in glasses over ice. 


White Peach Sangria

  • 1/2 cup peach Schnapps
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups sliced fresh peaches
  • Ice
  • In a large pitcher, combine  peach Schnapps, sugar, and peaches until sugar is dissolved. Cover and chill for 1-4 hours. Serve in glasses over ice. 


Rosé Sangria

  • 750mL Bottle Bodegas Muga Rioja Rosado
  • 1/4 cup orange Liqueur
  • 2 tablespoons brandy
  • 1 cup of each halved grapes, strawberries and peaches
  • 1-2 tablespoons granulated sugar (optional)
  • 1 cup chilled sparkling water
  • In a large pitcher, combine Bodegas Muga Rioja Rosado, orange Liqueur,  brandy, and fruit. Taste and add in sugar if desired. Chill for a 1-4 hours. Right before serving, add sparkling water to the pitcher. Serve in glasses over ice. 



 
Traditional Sangria

  • 1 cup Amber Select Brandy
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 each oranges, lemons, and limes cut into thin rounds
  • 2 apples cored and cut into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 2 cups chilled sparkling water
  • In a large pitcher, combine, brandy, orange juice, and sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add all orange, lemon and lime slices and apple cubes. Refrigerate until well chilled, about one hour. Remove from refrigerator and add sparkling water to the pitcher. Serve in glasses over ice.
